 Women of Influence

When you look up a list of “great women of the world” you will find stories of those who broke molds, fought for a cause, rebelled, forced themselves onto a pedestal and are now remembered for their great deeds. For every Joan of Arc, there is a ‘Joan the Maid’ diligently working to better the lives of those around her in small, simple ways. A good, strong woman, who through her quiet example influences her children and her children’s children for the better. These women, too, leave a lasting legacy that is fondly remembered – one forged by simplicity, love, honest living, and hard work.

Throughout my life, I have had the opportunity to interact with a few of these women in the trenches of everyday living. I have gone to them for advice and they have taught me that life is full of choices. We are not victims of fate. In every situation we have the opportunity to choose, either to conquer or be conquered. We decide our happiness and by that decision we have the power to influence the ones we love and inspire them to something better; the same way these women have inspired and continue to inspire me. Their influence will continue on, and this is where their greatness lies.
